USA Now Has Over 54 Million People Without Health Insurance

In a troubling new trend, the Kaiser Family Foundation revealed that the number of Americans without any health insurance is now over 54 million people. The number of Americans without any healthcare coverage increased by 4 million in 2009, which leaves almost one-fifth of non-elderly Americans without insurance. Younger Americans seem to be bearing the brunt of not having health coverage, between people 19 to 29, nearly one-third lack healthcare coverage. Online doctors can see their patients changing, previously there were more elderly patients but now it seems like more people are looking for prescriptions online.

The study showed that the epidemic of lost health care coverage is tied directly to the employer-based health care system. As more people continue to lose their jobs during this recession, they also lose their health care coverage.

Doctors online have seen that the people most vulnerable to losing health care are those in the 55-64 age range, who are too young to qualify for Medicare but have a range of health problems. Online doctors say that it is extremely difficult for this group to find other coverage options, which is why so many of them seek out online prescriptions for their common problems. Finding a job would grant health care coverage, but jobs are scarce and some do not offer coverage to their employees. Online prescriptions offer a break to those people who need medication that would be too costly otherwise.

Lack of healthcare is a growing concern in America and according to a recent study provided by Harvard University 45.000 people die each year in America due to lack of health care coverage. Also, the uninsured are 40% more likely to die than those who have insurance, when the two have similar health histories. Doctor’s online see these problems and they know that something needs to be done about them. Online prescription services can help but what about patients who have more pressing needs?

Thanks to Democrat reforms of health care laws, coverage has been extended to more people, but this will not come into effect for a few years. If it survives repeal efforts by Republicans, it will still leave roughly 20 million people uninsured. Online doctors have begun to coordinate their efforts to see what other health care reforms must be issued to provide coverage for these remaining people. Doctors do not want to see these people become the forgotten masses.

Health care reform goes a long way towards showing what an inadequate system employer-based private health insurance is, and that the system needs to change. Perhaps the changing winds will allow doctors online and prescription online services to offer health care for their patients under their coverage.

One day when all Americans do not have to fear for their health, we can finally have a system that benefits online doctors, patients and the medical establishment. We may not be too far away now, but there is still work to do.
