US Continues to Promote Genetically Modified Food

Secret United States documents released by Wikileaks contains detailed efforts by the U.S. To promote genetically modified (GM) crops around the world. US diplomats have even gone as far as pushing the Roman Catholic Church to support their expanding GM food crops to developing nations.

Other released cables from European Union countries shows the detailed efforts that U.S. diplomats have put into place, and it appears U.S. officials have made up their mind on GM crops. The shame is that it comes without as much as listening to the debate about the side effects or what doctors online around the world have to say.

In a 2005 meetings, a U.S. diplomat and USAID officials met with Catholic leaders to discuss GM foods, according to the leaked cable. The U.S. diplomats reported that the Catholic leadership agreed to make the science and safety of GM food crops a “non-issue”. They basically promoted GM foods without even considering the side effects of genetically modified food. Doctors online and online prescription services have thought for years that GM foods were an inherent danger to the world's natural seed ecosystem.

The Vatican did believe that widespread use of GM food crops in the developing world could lead to the farmers being reliant on these crops, which only grow if provided with fertilizers and chemicals manufactured by the seed companies. Online doctors have known for years of the dangers of chemical processes in crops, and prescription online doctors are looking into ways to help their patients avoid these food crops. Vatican officials also believed that GM foods would become a sort of economic imperialism, which would only benefit certain large, monopolistic corporations.

In a document by scientists with the Vatican, which was leaked to the press in late 2010, suggests that the Catholic Church could have a moral obligation to spread genetically modified foods to help world hunger. Doctors online the world over know this is pure fantasy, GM foods are only able to grow with extensive cost being implemented for fertilizers and pest infestation control. But, Europeans are trying their best to repeal genetically modified crops until more study can be done. Spain was the first EU country to approve genetically modified corn and now it appears that Spain is under diplomatic pressure from other EU countries to abandon their GM corn stocks.

Doctors online working with anti-GM groups in France were the first to question the effects of GM foods. France suspended cultivation of the crops, in a move that pleased online doctors and online prescription services. After the French inspection, other independent scientists debated with EU scientists and subsequently, bans were placed in France, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Greece in 2009.

The fight to repeal genetically modified foods is not over yet, as more countries see the harmful effects of GM crops, there will be further outcry for their ban. Doctors online all over the world are awaiting the day when the world's food supply is not in the hands of one large corporation.
