A heart attack, also called myocardial infarction, occurs when a section of the heart muscle dies or gets damaged because of reduced blood supply.

Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) is the main cause of a heart attack.  It is important to seek treatment for a heart attack immediately.  If you think or someone you know is having a heart attack, call 911 immediately.  Some facts about heart attacks:

3.)  50% wait 2 hours or more before getting help.

4.)  52 people in U.S. die due to heart attacks every minute making it 1,259 per day, 8,843 per week.

5.)  Heart diseases kill more women than men in America every year.  Women beat men by 50,000.

6.)  38% of women die within a year after having a heart attack as compared to 25% men.

7.)  The risk of a 2nd heart attack within 6 years of the 1st heart attack is estimated to be 35% in women.

8.)  Eating fish once a week can reduce your chance of a heart attack by 52%

9.)  Hostile personalities are at a higher risk of developing a heart attack
