In the United State an estimated 11.5 percent of adults ages 20 or older (23 million adults) have physiological evidence of chronic kidney disease determined from data collected through the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.
In 2006 506,256 U.S. residents suffered kidney disease resulting from the following diseases:
Diabetes: 188,381, Hypertension 122,339, Glomerulonephritis 80,164, Cystic Kidney 23,685, Urologic Disease 13,371, all others 78,316
