Online Medical Doctors

The concept of online MD is probably still a foreign one to most healthcare patients, but slowly this innovative concept is starting to get the press and attention it deserves.

Ever since the proliferation of the Internet and most households now having at least 1 email account, patients have literally been begging their family doctor to provide support via email. Here is one of our patient’s stories about her need for accessing online doctor and prescription services. Sound similar to what you may have experienced in the past? “I personally had an experience where I spent 7 (yes seven!) hours in my HMO’s Urgent Care Facility because I had an acute Ear Infection, coupled with an acute Sinus Infection (which, from previous experience, I knew going in). My primary care physician was completely booked as usual and with the pain I was suffering, I had no alternative (or so I thought) than to go to Urgent Care. I sat there wishing that there was an online doctor consultation and prescription service I could browse through from the comfort of my own home.

After 7 hours of being surrounded but other sick folks (who were spreading their own specific ailment germs to the rest of us), I finally saw the Urgent Care Doctor. He was wonderful and within 20 minutes I was walking out of the Urgent Care Facility with 4 (yes four!) prescriptions.

After a week’s course of the prescriptions, the symptoms were beginning to lift. But then the prescriptions began to run out. When I called the Urgent Care Facility to get refills, I was told that I had to deal with my regular family doctor. So I called my doctor’s office and requested that they call in refills for the four medications. The staff at my doctor’s office said that they could not refill prescriptions written by Urgent Care doctors and that I would have to see my own primary care physician for my condition. As I sat on hold, I thought to myself “Boy I wish I could just find an online doctor consultation and prescription service. I’m sure I could cut through all this nonsense and get the prescriptions called in to my local pharmacy right away.” Of course my primary care physician’s first available appointment was more than a week away. So, I found myself back in the Urgent Care Facility! After only a three hour wait, I was able to get an extended course of prescriptions and my conditions improved.

After that trip, I did some research to see if there were any online doctor consultation and prescription services - and I found KoolDocs.com. Wow, I wish I had known about them before my recent ordeal! I use them now for any acute ailments related to my allergies and also for my children, who always have something going on that needs attention from our confidential, certified and caring Online MD. I think my primary care physician has forgotten who I am at this point! I only wish they had the same service for my veterinary needs.” Happy Online-MD-Patient in Hueneme, California.
